Copper CliffThe Copper Cliff refinery, in the heart of the Sudbury basin, is located about 400 km north of Toronto in one of the world's richest nickel-bearing ore deposits. This state of the art facility, part of one of the largest integrated mining and refining complex in the world, annually produces in excess of 100,000 tonnes of nickel in both pellet and powder form. Copper Cliff employs Inco's proprietary Pressure Carbonyl process. In the process, carbon monoxide reacts with nickel as an intermediate form to yield a colorless gas called nickel carbonyl, which is purified and gently heated to produce nickel in various forms with very low metallic impurities. The end products are produced in an ISO 9001:2000 facility with assays determined in an A2LA accredited laboratory. |
